Step 3 A: Fair Use Checklist
There is NO blanket permission to use copyrighted material – even for educational purposes. So for EACH item used in teaching you will need to do a Fair Use Analysis.

Complete, save and keep a document for each item.
After you have completed the Fair Use Analysis and determined that your use is appropriate, select the appropriate teaching scenario below to continue with Step 4.
If you have determined that your use is not covered under Fair Use, check if the TEACH Act (Step 3B) applies or get Permission from the copyright holder.
