Classroom Use (Face-to-Face) AND Online Students
AND Course Management System
Some material is provided to
students in print or is available through Library Reserve, including
E-Reserves. Some material is provided through the course management system. Fair Use Analysis completed for each
item. TEACH may also apply.
1. Books:
a. Print
books:
i. Use
Library Reserve to deposit a physical copy.
ii.The item will be removed/returned at the end
of the semester.
b. Electronic
book:
i. Provide
link to library catalog record information so students can access and “check
out.”
c. Book
chapters:
i. Obtain
permission from publisher if necessary (will NOT be done by Library Reserve).
ii. Provide Library Reserve with either print or
electronic versions of chapters.
iii. The item will be removed/returned at the end
of the semester.
2. Manuscripts
or other non-published material (including email and electronic documents):
a. Obtain
permission if necessary (refer to your Fair Use Analysis).
b. If
attribution is not apparent, please provide.
c. Print
version:
i. Use Library
Reserve to deposit a physical copy.
ii.The item will be removed/returned at the end
of the semester.
d. Electronic
version:
i. Provide link to URL when available.
ii. Link to PDF if available. If link is no longer available upload PDF to
CMS and provide full attribution
3. Reports:
a. Print
version:
i. Use Library
Reserve to deposit a physical copy.
ii. The item will be removed/returned at the end
of the semester.
b. Electronic
version:
i. Provide
link to URL when available.
ii. If URL no longer available upload PDF to CMS
and provide full attribution
4. Articles:
a. Available
through the Library:
i. Provide
citation information so students can locate either electronic or print version.
ii. Provide link to article through the
Library’s website (do not upload the PDF
to your CMS).
b. Not
available through the Library:
i. Obtain
permission from publisher if necessary.
ii. Print version:
1. Provide
print version to Library Reserve.
2. The item
will be removed/returned at the end of the semester.
iii. Electronic version:
1. Provide
electronic version to Library E-Reserves.
2. The item
will be removed/returned at the end of the semester.
5. AV :

5a. AV – Movies (films,
dramatic works (plays, opera, etc), TV programs, documentaries. etc):
a. Must be
for educational purpose.
b. Must be
selected by course instructor.
c. Must be
legally obtained.
d. In the
classroom:
i. Can be
shown in full in the classroom.
e. Online
(contact FACT for assistance):
i. You
cannot show the whole movie online.
ii. If “Conditions of Use”* allows streaming, a
SMALL portion, directly pertinent to educational purpose, can be selected for
streaming.
iii. If “Conditions of Use”* does NOT allow
streaming, contact copyright owner for permission and pay any fees associated
with this.
5b AV – Music:
a. Must be
for educational purpose.
b. Must be
selected by course instructor.
c. Must be
legally obtained.
d. In the
classroom:
i. Can be
played in full in the classroom.
e. Online

* “Conditions of Use” for AV material: Condition of use
are often found on the actual item, sometimes it may be posted on the
shrink-wrap that originally came when the item was acquired/purchased. For the most part assume that streaming
rights are NOT permitted without special permission and payment of
additional fees. Do NOT assume
that all AV material in the Library already has streaming
permissions. The majority does not have
